Expertise

Being a student is easy, but learning is hard. Sustained behavioral change is even harder. Performance improvement that impacts the bottom line is the hardest.

Performance improves not when people know different things, but when they do things differently.

Leadership Coaching

Leadership isn’t a title, it’s a skill. And like all other skills, leadership requires knowledge, application and nurturing. Books, videos, classes, and workshops are all important part of the mix, but only coaching provides leaders with a safe space where they can establish and act toward achieving goals, gain a deeper perspective on the issues, explore alternatives, build personal awareness and receive support for improving specific skills.

Instructional Design

Performance improves when people do things differently, not when they know more things. But far too often ID focuses on information dumps that expand rather than narrow the knowing-doing gap. Training needs to be about performance improvement not just knowledge acquisition. And that means a focus on the why, what and how of doing the right thing at the right time in every situation.

Blended Learning

When training is appropriate as part of the performance improvement solution, blended learning is often the best route. Blended learning combines eLearning, Instructor-Led Training (ILT), Webinars, and simulations. eLearning is best for information transfer, leveling the playing field for classroom activities, remote workforces, training prework, and simulations. ILTs should be the labs where participants can learn and practice new skills. Marc has designed, developed, and delivered hundreds of hours of ILT and Train-The-Trainer (T3) sessions in a wide variety of subjects.

Developmental Coaching

Whether it is part of a comprehensive performance improvement initiative, training follow-up, working with new managers and leaders, or an intervention, coaching provides a place of safety to facilitate learning. Marc combines a "Knowing-doing" coaching methodology that focuses on developing skills.

Experience

Marc has worked with companies in various phases of development, including Multinationals and Entrepreneurial companies alike, helping their leaders to develop their skills and apply them to grow their enterprises.

The Conspiracy

A Cautionary Tale for Entrepreneurs

Named the 2014 Small Business Book of the Year.

"I rank this book along with classics penned by Patrick Lencioni and Ken Blanchard in the sense that it conveys a very powerful message while disguised as a quick read. Sure to be an instant classic, this book is destined to have a significant impact on new and seasoned entrepreneurs alike."

- Travis White

It was a heady time when the century turned. Things were going great right until the moment when they weren't.

The tech boom was at its zenith. Mergers and acquisitions were at an all-time high. The Dow was racing toward 14,000 and the all-important tech-saturated NASDAQ was at 5,000. Money was flowing and success was around every corner.

Then the tech bubble burst, destroying a number of myths. Chief among them was the idea that all it took for a young entrepreneur with a great idea to succeed was more money.

VCs fueled the illusion that any new company could be the next big thing with just a little more capital and time. Much more often than not, it didn't work out that way.

The Conspiracy is the story of one such company, KnowledgeMover. It is fictional. And very true.

The Conspiracy is a business fable that explores why start-ups thrive and how they die. Seen through the eyes of John Davis, the brilliant young founder and CEO of the next big thing, the book provides a thought-provoking, cautionary view from the top down and bottom up for those who ride the roller coaster from start-up to success.
